Transportation in Taiwan is very convenient! In Taiwan you can use the bus, MRT, YouBike and others. Let's explain one by one! . Travelers can take a flight from many places in the world to get here; then enjoy a train ride or a long-distance bus trip to other cities on the island; or take metro, city buses, taxis or bikes to travel around the city.

1. Bus (公車 gōngchē / 客運 kèyùn)

On average, every city in Taiwan is available by bus to facilitate transportation. For payment, you can use e-money cards and coins. To see bus schedules, you can download the apps below.

Not only bus schedules, you can also see MRT (Taipei and Kaohsiung) maps, train schedules and much more! In addition to buses within the city, in Taiwan there are also available intercity buses /客運 kèyùn to facilitate traveling outside the city, such as U-bus, Kuokuang, Aloha. You can buy bus tickets at stations, websites, and convenience stores.

2. MRT (捷運 jié yùn)

MRT is available in Taipei city, Kaohsiung and most recently in Taichung. You can use an e-money card to directly tap it, or you can also buy a single-journey ticket at the counter or machine available at the MRT station. For e-money cards, you can add the card balance at the nearest MRT station and convenience store. For single-journey tickets, you can buy them directly at the counter.

There is also an MRT available from Taipei to Taoyuan Airport! You can directly tap your e-money card or buy a single-journey ticket.

3. THSR (Taiwan High Speed Rail / 高鐵 gāotiě)

4. TRA (台鐵 táitiě)

5. Bicyle 腳踏車 Jiǎotàchē

Bikes or what you know as YouBike are available in Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Hsinchu Science Park, Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, Chiayi, Kaohsiung. In the city of Tainan available bicycles called T-Bike. These bicycles are public bicycles that you can rent. There are many places that provide YouBike or T-Bike stations, which you can use to rent or return bikes. You can register your e-money card and just tap it every time you want to rent a bicycle.

For T-Bike, you can rent the bike using iPass, Easy Card, icash2.0 and credit card. It costs 10 NT per 30 minutes and a maximum of 100 NT per day.
